Professional advice from a cryolipolysis expert

Meet our Co-Founder, Chau Pham Blommestein. She ran her own cryolipolysis and nail salon in Kinkerstraat in Amsterdam for 3 years before starting a business in importing beauty supplies. Based on her experience, she shared a few tips to make the most out of your cryolipolysis machine - for your businesses and customers.

1) What is the first thing you look for when choosing a cryolipolysis machine?

Effectiveness is doubtlessly the first thing I look for when choosing a machine. Since the results from a cryolipolysis treatment take weeks to appear, you need to rely on things like meetings with suppliers to ask them all your questions and be shown test results and testimonials. A good supplier will show you the model and its test results, since major suppliers always conduct tests before releasing the model in the market to ensure its effectiveness. There is always an element of risk in buying a machine, but this is reduced significantly if you trust your supplier.

2) What is the difference between a cryolipolysis machine with 2 vs 4 handles?

The technology behind both types of machine is the same, but the choice depends, in my opinion, on how big your client base is for cryoliplysis. With 4 handles, you can do the treatment to 2 clients at the same time. This will be a more economical solution for you than ordering 2 separate machines that take up more budget and space.

3) Are you a fan of cryolipolysis machines that combine other features/functions?

When choosing a cryolipolysis machine, I always prefer to find a machine that also offers cavitation and radiofrequency treatments. This is because combining those services together will make the overall cryolipolysis treatment much more effective. Those functions are also compatible/similar and can be provided by the same motor in the machine. Most of the machines we offer at Global Beauty Supplier offer several features together.

4) Why do different cryolipolysis machines have different prices, assuming that they have the same size and features?

Price differs based on the manufacturer and country of product, similar to any other product. Big manufacturers can afford to offer more competitive prices than smaller ones. In addition, prices can differ if companies invest more or less in the overall packaging and presentation of their machines (touch screens, using recycled vs. new materials, etc.). All cryolipolysis machines that we sell have the same effectiveness, but the producers, specifications and manufacture years differ. This of course ensures that we cater to clients with all the budgets - without compromising on quality.

5) What is your advice to maximize the effectiveness of the cryolipolysis treatment for clients?

  • It is important to realize that no two patients are the same, so variations in treatment outcomes are normal.
  • Make sure to treat enough zones for the client. People who want to lose a lot of fat need to have 3 or even 4 zones treated. Treating only one zone will not help those clients, and will cost them more money than they think they are saving by choosing to limit their treatment zones.
  • Massage the client after the treatment for 2-3 minutes, precisely in the zone where they got treated. You can do this using any basic massage gun machine. I think 70% of the salons don't do this, even though it speeds up the melting of fat cells.
  •  Do not reuse the same antifreeze membrane. Each new zone should get its own mask, because a used membrane doesn't have enough gel to protect the client's skin anymore.
  • Providing the client with after-care is very important. You need to remind them to come on time to their follow up sessions. Do not let them wait for 2-3 months to come back. The ideal duration is 3-5 weeks between each session, otherwise the treatment loses its effectiveness.
  • Remind clients to drink a lot of water, and encourage them to change their lifestyle during the treatment, such as following a healthier diet, avoiding snacking, and working out.

6) What is your advice to give your cryolipolysis machine the longest and healthiest life?

  • You need to change the water in the machine's tank in time. This is a point that I noticed a lot of salons overlook, which has very bad consequences for the machine.
  • After each use, the machine needs to be cleaned and dried, and kept in a dry place with low humidity. Machines, however, are usually operated by several team members, and unfortunately, not everyone will be equally careful in handling them and cleaning them following each use.
  • Always protect your machine from absorbing the gel from the antifreeze membranes by covering the inside of the handles with a plastic foil before the treatment.
  • Do a periodic maintenance of the machine with your supplier or an expert. Many times clients do not notice issues until it is too late, and with periodic check ups, issues can be spotted before they become major. Global Beauty Supplier offers this service to clients in The Netherlands.
